أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، أنا أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ الْأَعْرَابِيِّ، نا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الزَّعْفَرَانِيُّ، نا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ: كَتَبْنَا إِلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ سَعِيدٌ: شَكَكْنَا هُوَ النَّخَعِيُّ أَوِ التَّيْمِيُّ قَالَ مَطَرٌ هُوَ النَّخَعِيُّ فِي الرَّضَاعِ وَكَتَبَ إِلَيْنَا، أَنَّ شُرَيْحًا حَدَّثَ، أَنَّ عَلِيًّا، وَابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَا: " يُحَرِّمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعِ قَلِيلُهُ وَكَثِيرُهُ "، وَقَالَ وكَانَ فِي كِتَابِهِ أَنَّ أَبَا الشَّعْثَاءِ الْمُحَارِبِيَّ حَدَّثَ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: لَا تُحَرِّمُ الْخَطْفَةُ وَلَا الْخَطْفَتَانِ.
Sa'id narrates from Qatadah: We wrote to Ibrahim bin Yazid. Sa'id said: We were unsure whether he (that is, Ibrahim) was al-Nakha'i or al-Taymi; Matar said: He is al-Nakha'i. (We wrote) about suckling, and he wrote back to us that Shurayh narrated that Sayyiduna Ali and Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that suckling, whether little or much, establishes the prohibition. He said: And in his letter it was stated that Abu al-Sha'tha' al-Muharibi narrated that Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "A single hasty gulp of milk, or two hasty gulps, do not make (marriage) unlawful."
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو حَازِمٍ الْحَافِظُ، أنا أَبُو الْفَضْلِ بْنُ خُمَيْرَوَيْهِ، أنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ نَجْدَةَ، نا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، نا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ قَالَ: سُئِلَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ شَيْءٍ مِنْ أَمْرِ الرَّضَاعِ فَقَالَ: " لَا أَعْلَمُ إِلَّا أَنَّ اللهَ قَدْ حَرَّمَ الْأُخْتَ مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ "، فَقُلْتُ: إِنَّ ⦗٧٥٤⦘ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ يَقُولُ: " لَا تُحَرِّمُ الرَّضْعَةُ وَلَا الرَّضْعَتَانِ وَلَا الْمَصَّةُ وَلَا الْمَصَّتَانِ "، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ: " قَضَاءُ اللهِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ قَضَائِكَ وَقَضَاءُ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَعَكَ ".
It is narrated from Amr bin Dinar (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) was asked about something concerning suckling. He (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I know nothing except that Allah Almighty has made the foster sister, that is, the milk sister, unlawful. I said: The Commander of the Believers, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both), says that neither one suckling nor two sucklings, nor one suck nor two sucks, establish the prohibition. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The decree of Allah is better than your decree and the decree of the Commander of the Believers along with you.
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنا أَبُو عَمْرِو بْنُ مَطَرٍ، نا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، نا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ، نا أَبِي، نا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، سَمِعَ رَجُلًا قَالَ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ: إِنَّ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا يَقُولُ: " لَا تُحَرِّمُ الرَّضْعَةُ وَالرَّضْعَتَانِ "، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ: " كِتَابُ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَصْدَقُ مِنْ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ: {حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْكُمْ أُمَّهَاتُكُمْ وَبَنَاتُكُمْ وَأَخَوَاتُكُمْ} [النساء: ٢٣] قَرَأَ حَتَّى بَلَغَ {وَأُمَّهَاتُكُمُ اللَّاتِي أَرْضَعْنَكُمْ وَأَخَوَاتُكُمْ مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ} [النساء: ٢٣] ".
Shu'bah narrated to us from Amr bin Dinar that he (that is, Amr bin Dinar) heard a man say to Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): The Commander of the Believers, Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both), says that one or two sucklings do not establish the prohibition. Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The Book of Allah is more truthful than the Commander of the Believers. Then he recited: "Forbidden to you are your mothers, your daughters and your sisters" until he reached: "and your mothers who suckled you and your sisters through suckling" [Surah al-Nisa: 23].
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، نا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، نا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُكْرَمٍ، نا أَبُو النَّضْرِ، نا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، نا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ: أَرْسَلَنِي عَطَاءٌ وَرَجُلًا مَعِي إِلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فَسَأَلْنَاهُ عَنِ الْمَرْأَةِ تُرْضِعُ الصَّبِيَّ فِي الْمَهْدِ أَوِ الْجَارِيَةَ رَضْعَةً وَاحِدَةً قَالَ: " هِيَ عَلَيْهِ حَرَامٌ " قَالَ: قُلْتُ فَإِنَّ عَائِشَةَ وَابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ يَزْعُمَانِ أَنَّهُ " لَا يُحَرِّمُهَا رَضْعَتَانِ وَلَا ثَلَاثٌ " قَالَ: " كِتَابُ اللهِ أَصْدَقُ مِنْ قَوْلِهِمَا وَقَرَأَ آيَةَ الرَّضَاعَةِ ".
Abu al-Zubayr narrated to us: Ata' sent me and another man with me to Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both). We asked him about a woman who suckles a boy in the cradle, or a girl, once. He said: She is unlawful for him. I said: Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) hold that two sucklings or three sucklings do not make her unlawful to him. Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The Book of Allah is more truthful than the statement of the two of them, and he recited the verse of suckling [Surah al-Nisa: 23].
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ عَبْدُ الْخَالِقِ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْمُؤَذِّنُ، أنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ خَنْبٍ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، نا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بِلَالٍ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْأَيْلِيِّ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، كَانَ يَقُولُ: " قَلِيلُ الرَّضَاعِ وَكَثِيرُهُ يُحَرِّمُ فِي الْمَهْدِ " قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ يَقُولُ: " لَا رَضَاعَ بَعْدَ حَوْلَيْنِ كَامِلَيْنِ " كَذَا فِي هَذِهِ الرِّوَايَةِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ.
It is narrated from Ubaydullah bin Abdullah bin Utbah (may Allah have mercy on him) that Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to say that suckling, whether little or much, establishes the prohibition in the cradle. Ibn Shihab (may Allah have mercy on him) said that there is no suckling after two complete years. This is how it is narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) in this report.
وَقَدْ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ الْفَقِيهُ، وَأَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَأَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو قَالُوا: نا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الصَّغَانِيُّ، نا عَفَّانُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، نا وُهَيْبٌ، نا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عُقْبَةَ، أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنِ الْمَصَّةِ وَالْمَصَّتَيْنِ قَالَ: كَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا " لَا تُحَرِّمُ الْمَصَّةَ وَلَا الْمَصَّتَيْنِ وَلَا تُحَرِّمُ إِلَّا عَشْرًا فَصَاعِدًا " قَالَ: فَأَتَيْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْمُسَيِّبِ فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الرَّضْعَةِ وَالرَّضْعَتَيْنِ فَقَالَ، أَمَا إِنِّي لَا أَقُولُ فِيهَا كَمَا قَالَ ابْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ، وَابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ قَالَ: قُلْتُ: كَيْفَ كَانَا يَقُولَانِ؟ قَالَ: كَانَا يَقُولَانِ " لَا تُحَرِّمُ الْمَصَّةُ وَلَا الْمَصَّتَانِ وَلَا تُحَرِّمُ دُونَ عَشْرِ رَضَعَاتٍ فَصَاعِدًا " وَكَذَلِكَ رَوَاهُ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ وَرِوَايَةُ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ⦗٧٥٥⦘ أَصَحُّ فِي مَذْهَبِ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا وَرِوَايَةُ عُرْوَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا فِي مَذْهَبِهِ أَصَحُّ وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ.
Ibrahim bin Uqbah narrated to us that he asked Urwah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah have mercy on him) about one suck and two sucks, and he said that Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) used to say: One suck and two sucks do not establish the prohibition; only ten sucklings or more do.
He said: I came to Sa'id bin al-Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) and asked him about one suckling or two sucklings. He said: As for me, I do not say about it what Ibn al-Zubayr and Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said. He said: I said: How did they say it? He said: The two of them used to say: One suck and two sucks do not make (marriage) unlawful, nor does less than ten sucklings. Abd al-Aziz bin Muhammad narrated it likewise from Ibrahim bin Uqbah. The narration of al-Zuhri from Urwah (may Allah have mercy on him) is more correct regarding the position of Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), and the narration of Urwah from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) is more correct regarding his position. And Allah knows best.
