أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ، أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الصَّفَّارُ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ غَالِبٍ، ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، ثنا أَبَانُ، ثنا قَتَادَةُ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " إِذَا أَنْكَحَ الْوَلِيَّانِ، فَهُوَ لِلْأَوَّلِ مِنْهُمَا، وَإِذَا بَايَعَ الرَّجُلُ بَيْعًا مِنَ الرَّجُلَيْنِ، فَهُوَ لِلْأَوَّلِ مِنْهُمَا ".
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When two guardians give (a woman) in marriage, the marriage by the first of them is valid; and when a man sells goods to two men, it belongs to the first buyer."
وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ فُورَكٍ، أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ثنا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " إِذَا أَنْكَحَ وَلِيَّانِ، فَالنِّكَاحُ لِلْأَوَّلِ مِنْهُمَا، وَإِذَا بَاعَ رَجُلٌ مَتَاعًا مِنْ رَجُلَيْنِ، فَهُوَ لِلْأَوَّلِ مِنْهُمَا " هَكَذَا رِوَايَةُ الْجَمَاعَةِ وَهُوَ الْمَحْفُوظُ، قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ: لَا يَكُونُ نِكَاحُ وَلِيَّيْنِ مُتَكَافِئًا حَتَّى يَكُونَ لِلْأَوَّلِ مِنْهُمَا إِلَّا بِوَكَالَةٍ مِنْهُمَا مَعَ تَوْكِيلِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَمْرَو بْنَ أُمَيَّةَ الضَّمْرِيَّ، فَزَوَّجَهُ أُمَّ حَبِيبَةَ بِنْتَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ.
Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "When two guardians give (a woman) in marriage, the marriage by the first guardian is valid; and when a man sells his goods to two men, the goods belong to the first buyer."

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ، ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ: بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَمْرَو بْنَ أُمَيَّةَ الضَّمْرِيَّ إِلَى النَّجَاشِيِّ، فَزَوَّجَهُ أُمَّ حَبِيبَةَ بِنْتَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، وَسَاقَ عَنْهُ أَرْبَعَمِائَةِ دِينَارٍ "، وَرُوِّينَا فِي تَزْوِيجِ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتِ عَلِيٍّ مِنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ لِحَسَنٍ وَحُسَيْنٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ: زَوِّجَا عَمَّكُمَا فَزَوَّجَاهُ.
Abu Ja'far (may Allah have mercy on him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Amr bin Umayyah al-Damri (may Allah be pleased with him) to the Negus, and he, acting as agent on his (peace and blessings be upon him) behalf, married him to Umm Habibah bint Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with her), and paid 400 dinars on his (peace and blessings be upon him) behalf.
(b) Concerning the marriage of Umm Kulthum bint Ali (may Allah be pleased with her) to Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), (it is reported) that Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Hasan and Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both): "Arrange the marriage of your uncle," so the two of them married her to him.
