Abu Burdah (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I met Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) in Madinah, and he said: Come home with me so that I may give you a drink from a cup from which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) drank, and you may pray in a place where he (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed. I went with him, and he gave me sawiq (barley gruel) to drink and fed me dates, and I prayed in that mosque. Then Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: You are in a land where usury (riba) is widespread, and a door of usury is that when someone gives a loan for a fixed term, and the term ends, the borrower comes to repay the loan with his basket filled with a gift. So beware of that basket and what is in it.

Sa'id bin Abi Burdah narrates from his father Abu Burdah (may Allah have mercy on him): I came to Madinah and met Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him), and he said: Will you not come home so that I may feed you sawiq and dates? We went, and he fed us sawiq and dates, then he said: You are in a land where usury (riba) is widespread. When a man owes you a debt and he gives you as a gift a bundle of dry fodder tied with rope, or of barley, or of straw, do not accept it, for that is usury.
