أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَأَبُو نَصْرِ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْفَامِيُّ قَالَا: أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ شَاذَانَ الْبَنْدَكْرِيُّ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ خَشْرَمٍ، ثنا أَبُو ضَمْرَةَ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي النَّضْرِ مَوْلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ عَنْ بُسْرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أُنَيْسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " أُرِيتُ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ ثُمَّ أُنْسِيتُهَا وَأَرَانِي صَبِيحَتَهَا أَسْجُدُ فِي مَاءٍ وَطِينٍ " قَالَ فَمُطِرْنَا لَيْلَةَ ثَلَاثٍ وَعِشْرِينَ فَصَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ وَإِنَّ أَثَرَ الْمَاءِ وَالطِّينِ لَعَلَى أَنْفِهِ وَجَبْهَتِهِ. قَالَ وَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أُنَيْسٍ يَقُولُ ثَلَاثٌ وَعِشْرُونَ لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ خَشْرَمٍ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Unays (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I was shown Laylat al-Qadr, then I was made to forget it, and I was shown that on the morning after it I was prostrating in water and mud." The narrator says: It rained on us on the twenty-third night, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in prayer; then when he (peace and blessings be upon him) turned away, the traces of water and mud were on his (peace and blessings be upon him) nose and forehead. And Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Unays (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say that it is the twenty-third night.
أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَقِيهُ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ بِهَا أنبأ أَبُو النَّضْرٍ الْفَقِيهُ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الدَّارِمِيُّ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ الْهَادِ، أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرِ بْنَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَزْمٍ، أَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أُنَيْسٍ، قَالَ: كُنَّا بِالْبَادِيَةِ فَقُلْنَا إِنْ قَدِمْنَا بِأَهْلِينَا شَقَّ عَلَيْنَا وَإِنْ خَلَّفْنَاهُمْ أَصَابَتْهُمْ ضِيقَةٌ، قَالَ: فَبَعَثُونِي وَكُنْتُ أَصْغَرَهُمْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرْتُ لَهُ قَوْلَهُمْ فَأَمَرَنَا بِلَيْلَةِ ثَلَاثٍ وَعِشْرِينَ. قَالَ ابْنُ الْهَادِ: فَكَانَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ يَجْتَهِدُ تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ.
Abdullah bin Unays (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were in the desert, and we said: If we take our families with us it will be hard for us, and if we leave them behind some hardship may befall them. So they sent me to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and I was the youngest of them. I told him (peace and blessings be upon him) what they had said, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us "to stand (in prayer) on the twenty-third night."
Ibn al-Had said: So Muhammad bin Ibrahim used to exert himself (in worship) on that night.

وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ، أنبأ أَبُو مُحَمَّدِ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، ثنا زُهَيْرٌ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أُنَيْسٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ لِي بَادِيَةً أَكُونُ فِيهَا وَأَنَا أُصَلِّي فِيهَا بِحَمْدِ اللهِ فَمُرْنِي بِلَيْلَةٍ أَنْزِلُهَا إِلَى هَذَا الْمَسْجِدِ فَقَالَ: " انْزِلْ لَيْلَةَ ثَلَاثٍ وَعِشْرِينَ " فَقُلْتُ لِابْنِهِ: فَكَيْفَ كَانَ أَبُوكَ يَصْنَعُ؟ قَالَ: كَانَ يَدْخُلُ الْمَسْجِدَ إِذَا صَلَّى الْعَصْرَ فَلَا يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُ ⦗٥١٠⦘ لِحَاجَةٍ حَتَّى يصَلِّيَ الصُّبْحَ فَإِذَا صَلَّى الصُّبْحَ وَجَدَ دَابَّتَهِ عَلَى بَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَجَلَسَ عَلَيْهَا فَلَحِقَ بِبَادِيَتِهِ.
The son of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Unays al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from his father, who said: I said: O Messenger of Allah, I have a desert dwelling where I stay, and, praise be to Allah, I pray there; so command me (to come on) a night on which I may come down to this mosque. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Come down on the twenty-third night." (Muhammad bin Ibrahim said:) I said to his son: What did your father use to do? He said: He would enter the mosque when he had prayed Asr, and would not leave it for any need until he had prayed Fajr; and when he had prayed Fajr, he would find his mount at the door of the mosque, sit on it and go back to his desert dwelling.
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ بِشْرَانَ، أنبأ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ الرَّزَّازُ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ، ثنا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " كَمْ مَضَى مِنَ الشَّهْرِ " قَالُوا: مَضَى اثْنَتَانِ وَعِشْرُونَ وَبَقِيَ ثَمَانٍ، فَقَالَ: " بَلْ مَضَى اثْنَتَانِ وَعِشْرُونَ وَبَقِيَ سَبْعٌ اطْلُبُوهَا اللَّيْلَةَ ".
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "How much of the month has passed?" They said: Twenty-two have passed and eight remain. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Rather, twenty-two have passed and seven remain; so seek it tonight."
وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ ثنا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ دَعْلَجُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ السِّجِسْتَانِيُّ بِمَدِينَةِ السَّلَامِ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِي نُعَيْمٍ، أَحَدَّثَكُمْ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ الْفَزَارِيُّ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، وَأَرَاهُ قَدْ ذَكَرَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ قَالَ: كُنَّا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرُوا لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَمْ مَضَى مِنَ الشَّهْرِ؟ " قَالُوا: اثْنَتَانِ وَعِشْرُونَ وَبَقِيَ ثَمَانٍ قَالَ: " مَضَى اثْنَتَانِ وَعِشْرُونَ وَبَقِيَ سَبْعٌ الشَّهْرُ تِسْعٌ وَعِشْرُونَ فَالْتَمِسُوهَا اللَّيْلَةَ " فَقَالَ أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ: نَعَمْ.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and the people mentioned Laylat al-Qadr, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "How much of the month has passed?" They said: Twenty-two, and eight remain. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Twenty-two have passed and seven remain. The month is twenty-nine (days). So seek it tonight." Then Abu Nu'aym said: Yes.
وَقَدْ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُوسَى، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ، ثنا خَلَّادٌ الْجُعْفِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَائِدُ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: ذَكَرْنَا لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَمْ مَضَى مِنَ الشَّهْرِ؟ " قُلْنَا اثْنَتَانِ وَعِشْرُونَ وَبَقِيَ ثَمَانٍ فَقَالَ: " مَضَى اثْنَتَانِ وَعِشْرُونَ وَبَقِيَ سَبْعٌ اطْلُبُوهَا اللَّيْلَةَ الشَّهْرُ تِسْعٌ وَعِشْرُونَ ".
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We mentioned Laylat al-Qadr, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "How much of the month has passed?" We said: Twenty-two days, and eight remain. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Twenty-two have passed and seven remain. Seek it tonight; the month is twenty-nine (days)."
وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَأَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو قَالَا: ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ هُوَ الْأَصَمُّ ثنا أَسِيدُ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ، ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ، قَالَ: قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ " تَحَرَّوْا لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ لَيْلَةَ سَبْعَةَ عَشَرَ صَبِيحَةَ بَدْرٍ أَوْ إِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا وَعِشْرِينَ ".
Ibrahim narrates from al-Aswad (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Seek Laylat al-Qadr on the night of the seventeenth, (the night before) the morning of Badr, or the twenty-first, or the twenty-third.
وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ، أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ثنا حَكِيمُ بْنُ سَيْفٍ الرَّقِّيُّ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ زَيْدٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " اطْلُبُوهَا لَيْلَةَ سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ وَلَيْلَةَ إِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ وَلَيْلَةَ ثَلَاثٍ وَعِشْرِينَ ثُمَّ سَكَتَ ".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to us: "Seek it on the seventeenth of Ramadan, on the twenty-first and on the twenty-third." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) fell silent.
