أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ، ثنا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ الْبَطِينِ، ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ فُورَكٍ، أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ثنا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُسْلِمَ الْبَطِينَ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " مَا الْعَمَلُ فِي أَيَّامٍ أَفْضَلَ مِنْهُ فِي عَشْرِ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ " قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ: وَلَا الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ قَالَ: " وَلَا الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ إِلَّا رَجُلٌ خَرَجَ بِنَفْسِهِ وَمَالِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ ثُمَّ لَا يَرْجِعُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ بِشَيْءٍ " لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ شُعْبَةَ وَفِي رِوَايَةِ أَبِي مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَا مِنْ أَيَّامٍ الْعَمَلُ الصَّالِحُ فِيهَا أَحَبُّ إِلَى اللهِ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْأَيَّامِ يَعْنِي أَيَّامَ الْعَشْرِ " وَالْبَاقِي بِمَعْنَاهُ رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَرْعَرَةَ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ.
Sa'id bin Jubayr narrates from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What deed done on ordinary days is more virtuous and better than in the ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah? There is no deed done on ordinary days that is more virtuous than in the ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah." They said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Not even jihad in the path of Allah? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Not even jihad in the path of Allah, except a man who went out with his wealth and his self (his life), and nothing of either of them came back."
Abu Mu'awiyah said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There are no days in which a righteous deed is more beloved to Allah than in these days."

أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ، أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، ثنا زِيَادُ بْنُ الْخَلِيلِ، ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ، ثنا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنِ الْحُرِّ بْنِ الصَّيَّاحِ، عَنْ هُنَيْدَةَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ، عَنِ امْرَأَتِهِ، عَنْ بَعْضِ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَتْ: " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصُومُ تِسْعَ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ وَيَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ وَثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ أَوَّلَ اثْنَيْنِ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ وَالْخَمِيسَ تَعْنِي وَيَوْمًا آخَرَ " وَرَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ عَنْ مُسَدَّدٍ.
Hunaydah bin Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from his wife, from one of the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (may Allah be pleased with them), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to fast the 9th of Dhu al-Hijjah, the day of Ashura, and three days of every month: the first Monday of the month and Thursday.
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُؤَمَّلِ، ثنا أَبُو عُثْمَانَ عَمْرُو بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْبَصْرِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ، أنبأ يَعْلَى بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، ثنا الْأَعْمَشُ، ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ، أنبأ أَبُو الْفَضْلِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أنبأ أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، ثنا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ: " مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَائِمًا فِي الْعَشْرِ قَطُّ " ⦗٤٧٢⦘ رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَغَيْرِهِ وَالْمُثْبِتُ أَوْلَى مِنَ النَّافِي مَعَ مَا مَضَى مِنْ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ.
Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I never saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) fasting during the ten days.
(Imam Muslim (may Allah have mercy on him) recorded it in the Sahih from Ishaq bin Ibrahim. The report that affirms takes precedence over the one that negates, together with the hadith of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that has already passed.)
