Ja'far bin Jabr (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I was with Sayyiduna Abu Basrah al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him), the Companion of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), in a ship from Fustat during Ramadan. The ship set off, then he brought his meal close. Ja'far stated in his narration that he had not yet gone beyond the houses when he called for the dining mat and said: "Come close." He says: I said: "Do you not see the houses?" Sayyiduna Abu Basrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Do you turn away from the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" Ja'far stated in his narration: Then he ate.
