Sayyiduna Abu Humayd al-Sa'idi (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed a man from the tribe of Azd, called Ibn al-Lutbiyyah, as a collector. When he came, he said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): This is for you, and this was given to me as a gift. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood on the pulpit, praised and glorified Allah, and said: "What is the matter with the collector whom we appoint, and then he comes and says: This is yours and this was given to me as a gift? Why did he not sit in the house of his father or his mother, and then see whether he would be given a gift or not! By the One in whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), none of you brings anything (from it) except that he will bring it on the Day of Resurrection carrying it on his neck. If it is a camel, it will be groaning; and the cow and the sheep will be bleating." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his hands until I saw the whiteness of his armpits, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "'Allahumma hal ballaghtu, Allahumma hal ballaghtu, Allahumma hal ballaghtu' (O Allah, have I conveyed? O Allah, have I conveyed? O Allah, have I conveyed?)"
