Tawus (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) said to the people of Yemen: Bring me khamis (garments five cubits long) or worn clothes; I will take them from you in place of zakah, for that is easier for you and better for the Muhajirun in Madinah.

Tawus (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) said to the people of Yemen: Bring me khamis or worn clothes; I will take them from you in place of zakah, for that is easier for you and better for the Muhajirun in Madinah.
But in (another) narration it says that he said: Bring me goods of clothing; I will take them from you in place of sorghum and barley.
Abu Bakr al-Isma'ili said: If the hadith of Tawus from Mu'adh is mursal, there is no proof in it; and some narrators said in it "jizyah" instead of "zakah".

Sayyiduna al-Sunabihi al-Ahmasi (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a fine, full-grown she-camel among the zakah camels; he (peace and blessings be upon him) became angry and said: "May Allah destroy the owner of this she-camel." He (the collector) said: O Messenger of Allah! I took it in exchange for two camels. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then that is fine."
Abu Isa (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I asked Imam al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) about it, and he said that Isma'il bin Abi Khalid narrated this hadith from Qays bin Abi Hazim that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw (it) among the zakah camels, as mursal; and he declared Mujalid weak.
