Abd al-Rahman bin Abis (may Allah have mercy on him) says: A man asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): "Were you present at the Eid with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He said: "Yes. Had I not been living in his (peace and blessings be upon him) household, I could not have attended because of my young age." He (peace and blessings be upon him) came near the house of Kathir bin al-Salt, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed there and delivered a sermon, but there is no mention of an adhan or iqamah. The narrator says: Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that charity be given, and the women began taking off the jewelry from their ears and necks. He (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him); he went to them and then returned to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

Urwah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she used to adorn her nephews with gold.
If the narrator remembered it correctly, this was at a time when they had not reached puberty. Imam al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) says that children may be dressed in what men and women may wear, and they may also wear jewelry on the day of Eid. But Imam Malik bin Anas (may Allah have mercy on him) disliked it.
