Sa'id bin Yasar narrates from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite in the first of the two rak'ahs of Fajr the verse of Surah al-Baqarah, "Say: We believe in Allah and in what has been sent down to us" [Surah al-Baqarah: 136], in full, and in the second rak'ah "We believe in Allah, so bear witness that we are Muslims" [Surah Al Imran: 52].

Sa'id bin Yasar said that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) informed him that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) "used to recite in the first of the two rak'ahs of Fajr 'Say: We believe in Allah and in what has been sent down to us' [Surah al-Baqarah: 136], and in the second rak'ah 'Come to a word that is equitable between us and you' [Surah Al Imran: 64]."

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); in the first of the two rak'ahs of Fajr he (peace and blessings be upon him) would recite "Say: We believe in Allah and in what has been sent down to us and what was sent down to Ibrahim, Isma'il, Ishaq and Ya'qub" [Surah al-Baqarah: 136] up to His words "and we submit to Him" [Surah al-Baqarah: 136], and in the second rak'ah "Our Lord, we have believed in what You sent down and have followed the Messenger, so register us among the witnesses" [Surah Al Imran: 53].
(b) Abd al-Aziz al-Darawardi was in doubt whether it was "Our Lord, we have believed in what You sent down" [Surah Al Imran: 53] or "Indeed, We have sent you with the truth as a bearer of good tidings and a warner, and you will not be asked about the companions of Hellfire" [Surah al-Baqarah: 119].
