Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray three rak'ahs of witr, reciting in them "Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High" [Surah al-A'la: 1], "Say: O disbelievers" [Surah al-Kafirun: 1] and "Say: He is Allah, the One" [Surah al-Ikhlas: 1], and he would recite the qunut supplication before the bowing. When he gave the salam, he would say 'Subhan al-Malik al-Quddus' (Glory be to the King, the Most Holy) twice quietly, and the third time aloud, raising his voice.

Sa'id bin Abd al-Rahman bin Abza narrates from his father (may Allah be pleased with him); there is no mention of the qunut in it, nor of Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him).
(b) Another narration is that of Muhammad bin Bishr al-Abdi; he too did not mention the qunut.
(c) Shu'bah narrates from Qatadah; he too did not mention the qunut.
(d) Sulayman al-A'mash, Shu'bah, Abd al-Malik bin Abi Sulayman and others narrate from Zubayd, and none of them mentioned the qunut either. However, in the narration of Hafs bin Ghiyath from Mis'ar from Zubayd it is mentioned that he (peace and blessings be upon him) recited the qunut supplication before the bowing. But this is not well known from the narration of Hafs, and it is feared that Hafs took it from someone other than Mis'ar.
(Note) All of these statements are those of Abu Dawud (may Allah have mercy on him), and Abu Dawud (may Allah have mercy on him) also declared this addition weak.

Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray three rak'ahs of witr and did not give the salam in between them. In the first rak'ah he recited "Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High" [Surah al-A'la: 1], in the second rak'ah "Say: O disbelievers" [Surah al-Kafirun: 1], and in the third rak'ah "Say: He is Allah, the One" [Surah al-Ikhlas: 1], and he would recite the qunut before the bowing. When he finished the prayer he would say: 'Subhan al-Malik al-Quddus' (Glory be to the King, the Most Holy), twice quietly and the third time aloud.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I spent the night with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) so that I could see how he (peace and blessings be upon him) recited the qunut in witr. He (peace and blessings be upon him) recited the qunut before the bowing. Then I sent my mother, Umm Ma'bad (may Allah be pleased with her), to spend the night with his (peace and blessings be upon him) wives and see how he (peace and blessings be upon him) recited the qunut in his witr. When she came back, she said that the qunut was before the bowing.
The hadith revolves around Aban bin Abi Ayyash, and Aban is matruk (abandoned).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed three rak'ahs of witr and recited the qunut in them before the bowing.
