It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stoned Jamrat al-Aqabah on the Day of Sacrifice, then returned to his place in Mina, had his sacrificial animal brought and slaughtered it, then called the barber. He shaved the hair from the right side of the head of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed it among those sitting near him, one or two hairs each. Then he shaved the hair from the left side of the head of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Is Abu Talhah here?" And he (peace and blessings be upon him) gave that hair to Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him).

It is narrated from Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had his head shaved on the Day of Sacrifice, he (peace and blessings be upon him) held his hair in his right hand. When the barber had shaved the right side, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): "Take this hair to Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her)." When the people saw this special favour of his (peace and blessings be upon him), they too became eager for his (peace and blessings be upon him) hair: one took a tuft, and another took some hairs.
(b) Ubaydah al-Salmani (may Allah have mercy on him) said: This hair is dearer to me than all the gold and silver that is on the surface of the earth and within it.
