Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunayf (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I used to have a great deal of madhy (pre-seminal fluid), because of which I would take a ritual bath very often. I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about it, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Ablution alone is sufficient for you." I said: O Messenger of Allah! What should I do about what gets on my clothes? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Take a handful of water and sprinkle it on your clothes wherever you see it; that is sufficient."

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I was a man who had a great deal of madhy, and the daughter of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was married to me, so I felt too shy to ask him (peace and blessings be upon him). I asked a man to ask, and he asked him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you find this, wash your private part and perform ablution."

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) asked Sayyiduna Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him) to ask the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about madhy, and said: I feel too shy to ask him (peace and blessings be upon him). Sayyiduna Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He should wash his private part and his testicles and perform ablution like that for prayer."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) what makes a ritual bath obligatory, and about the water that comes after water, about praying in my house, praying in the mosque, and eating with a menstruating woman. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah is not shy of the truth [Surah al-Ahzab: 53]." (Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) was at his side at the time.) "As for me, when I have had intercourse, I perform ablution and then take a ritual bath. The water after water means madhy (pre-seminal fluid); every man emits madhy, so wash your private part and testicles from it and perform ablution as for prayer. As for praying in the mosque and in my house, you see how close my house is to the mosque, yet I would rather pray in my house than in the mosque, except for an obligatory prayer. And as for eating with a menstruating woman, eat with her."
