أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْفَقِيهُ، أنبأ عَلِيُّ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ بَطْحَاءَ، ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ الْحِيرِيُّ، ثنا حَسَنُ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ الْعُرَنِيُّ، ثنا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ، عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " يُصَلِّي الْمَرِيضُ قَائِمًا إِنِ اسْتَطَاعَ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ صَلَّى قَاعِدًا فَإِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ أَنْ يَسْجُدَ أَوْمَأَ وَجَعَلَ سُجُودَهُ أَخْفَضَ مِنْ رُكُوعِهِ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ قَاعِدًا صَلَّى عَلَى جَنْبِهِ الْأَيْمَنِ مُسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةِ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ عَلَى جَنْبِهِ الْأَيْمَنِ صَلَّى مُسْتَلْقِيًا، رِجْلُهُ مِمَّا يَلِي الْقِبْلَةَ ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Husayn bin Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The sick person should pray standing if he is able. If he does not have that much ability, then sitting; and if he is not able to prostrate, then he should make gestures, keeping the gestures for prostration somewhat lower than the gestures for bowing. If he is not able to pray sitting, then he should pray on his right side facing the qiblah; and if he does not find the strength to pray lying on his right side either, then he should pray lying on his back, and in that case his legs should be towards the qiblah."
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْفَقِيهُ، أنبأ عَلِيُّ بْنُ عُمَرَ، أنبأ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، ⦗٤٣٧⦘ ثنا عَبَّاسُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: قَالَ: " يُصَلِّي الْمَرِيضُ مُسْتَلْقِيًا عَلَى قَفَاهُ، تَلِي قَدَمَاهُ الْقِبْلَةَ " وَهَذَا مَوْقُوفٌ وَهُوَ مَحْمُولٌ عَلَى مَا لَوْ عَجَزَ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ عَلَى جَنْبِهِ، وَبِاللهِ التَّوْفِيقُ.
Nafi' (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the sick person should pray lying on his back, with his feet towards the qiblah. This report is mawquf (stopping at the Companion).
(b) And this is to be understood as applying when he is unable even to lie on his side. 'Wa billahi al-tawfiq' (And Allah alone grants success).
