Abdullah bin Awn (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Muhammad (may Allah have mercy on him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed, he would raise his head towards the sky and look here and there. So Allah Almighty revealed this verse: "Successful indeed are the believers, those who humble themselves in their prayers." [Surah al-Mu'minun: 1-2] Ibn Awn (may Allah have mercy on him) lowered his head towards the ground.
It has also been narrated from Abu Zayd Sa'id bin Aws, from Ibn Awn, from Ibn Sirin, from Abu Hurayrah as a connected report, but the correct version is the mursal one.

Through another chain he mentioned this hadith, except that in it is: He (peace and blessings be upon him) used to look around in prayer; when this noble verse, "Successful indeed are the believers, those who humble themselves in their prayers" [Surah al-Mu'minun: 1-2], was revealed, he lowered his head. The narrator says: Abu Zayd (may Allah have mercy on him) showed us by lowering his head.

Muhammad bin Sirin (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I was informed that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed, he would raise his gaze towards the sky. Then a verse was revealed; if it was not "Those who humble themselves in their prayers" [Surah al-Mu'minun: 2], then I do not know which verse it was. Ibn Sirin (may Allah have mercy on him) liked that the gaze of one praying should not go beyond his place of prayer.
What is preserved is that it is mursal; it has also been narrated from Isma'il bin Ibrahim (Ibn Ulayyah) as a connected report.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed, he would raise his gaze towards the sky. Then this verse was revealed: "Those who humble themselves in their prayers" [Surah al-Mu'minun: 2], so he (peace and blessings be upon him) lowered his blessed head.
Hammad bin Zayd narrated it from Ayyub as a mursal report, and this is what is preserved.

Abu Qilabah al-Jarmi (may Allah have mercy on him) says: Ten of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (may Allah be pleased with them) described to me the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and in it they described his standing, bowing and prostration.
The prayer of the Commander of the Believers, Umar bin Abd al-Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him), resembled his (peace and blessings be upon him) prayer. Sulayman (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I watched Umar closely in his prayer; he kept his gaze fixed on the place of prostration.
It is not strong.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): I said: O Messenger of Allah, where should I place my gaze in prayer? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Anas, keep your gaze on the place of your prostration." I said: O Messenger of Allah, this is difficult; I cannot do this. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then do so in the obligatory prayer."
Al-Rabi' bin Badr is da'if (weak), and what has preceded is sufficient.
