It is narrated from the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would begin the prayer with the takbir and begin the recitation with "All praise is for Allah, Lord of the worlds" [Surah al-Fatihah: 2]. When he bowed, he kept his head level, neither lowering it too much nor raising it too high. When he raised his head from bowing, he would stand fully upright, and when he raised his head from prostration, he would not make the second prostration until he had sat upright. He (peace and blessings be upon him) used to forbid squatting on the heels in the manner of Satan. He (peace and blessings be upon him) would lay his left foot flat and keep his right foot upright, and he disliked spreading the forearms the way a dog spreads its forearms. He would conclude the prayer with the salam, and he would recite the tashahhud (al-tahiyyat) after every two rak'ahs.
