The hadith of Imam al-Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) has already passed: "The Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (may Allah be pleased with them all) used to prostrate in such a state that their hands were inside their clothes."

It is narrated from al-Hakam that Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) led the people in prayer while his hands were inside his sleeves.
Abu Ubayd (may Allah have mercy on him) says: al-mustuqah means a garment with long sleeves.
Ibrahim al-Nakha'i (may Allah have mercy on him) says that people used to pray in their long-sleeved garments, cloaks and large shawls (a green-coloured shawl usually worn by shaykhs), and would not take their hands out.
This report is mursal. A hadith with a connected chain has also been narrated on this, but its chain has some weakness.

Abdullah bin Abd al-Rahman bin Thabit bin Samit narrates from his father, and he from his grandfather (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was praying in the mosque of Banu Abd al-Ashhal, wearing a sheet which he (peace and blessings be upon him) had wrapped around himself; he (peace and blessings be upon him) had placed his hands upon it, and in this way he (peace and blessings be upon him) was protecting himself from the coldness of the pebbles.
It has also been narrated through another, weak chain.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) praying in a white sheet on a cold morning; he would protect his hands and legs from the coldness of the ground with that sheet.
