It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came into the mosque. A man entered the mosque and prayed, then he came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and greeted him with salam. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Wa 'alayka al-salam (And upon you be peace). Go back and pray again, for you have not prayed." He did this three times, and finally he said: By the One who sent you with the truth, I cannot pray better than this, so teach me the prayer. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you stand for the prayer, say 'Allahu Akbar' (Allah is the Greatest), then recite whatever of the Qur'an is easy for you, then bow with composure, then raise your head and stand up straight, then prostrate with composure, then raise your head from the prostration and sit with composure, and complete your whole prayer in this way."

This same hadith is also reported from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) through another chain; at its end is that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then do likewise in every rak'ah and prostration."

Hadith Takhrij«صحيح۔ اخرجه البخاري في القراء ة خلف الامام 74»
It is narrated from Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "When you are the imam, keep the prayer light, for among the people are the elderly, the weak and those with needs; and when you are praying alone, lengthen it as much as you can. Recite in every prayer." What the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) let us hear, we have let you hear, and what he kept hidden from us, we have also kept hidden from you. A man asked him: If I do not recite anything more than Surah al-Fatihah, is that valid? He replied: "If you recite more than it, that is better, and if you suffice with it, your prayer will still be valid."
