أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، فِي آخَرِينَ قَالُوا: ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، أنا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، أنا الشَّافِعِيُّ، أنبأ سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَبِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " لَا يَغْلِبَنَّكُمُ الْأَعْرَابُ عَلَى اسْمِ صَلَاتِكُمْ، هِيَ الْعِشَاءُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُمْ يُعْتِمُونَ بِالْإِبِلِ " رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ، عَنْ زُهَيْرِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ وَغَيْرِهِ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not let the Bedouins prevail over you regarding the name of your prayer. Know that it is Isha; but they used to milk their camels at the time of Isha."
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُقْرِئُ أنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ أَبِي رَوَّادٍ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الطَّائِفِ، عَنْ غَيْلَانَ بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَا يَغْلِبَنَّكُمُ الْأَعْرَابُ مِنِ اسْمِ صَلَاتِكُمْ فَإِنَّهَا فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلُّ الْعِشَاءُ وَإِنَّمَا سَمَّتْهَا الْأَعْرَابُ الْعَتَمَةُ مِنْ أَجْلِ أَبِلِهَا لِحِلَابِهَا ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not let the Bedouins prevail over you regarding the name of your prayer; in the Book of Allah it (the prayer) is Isha. The Bedouins named it 'Atamah only because (at that time) they used to milk their camels."
