أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْجُرْجَانِيُّ، أنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْعَسْقَلَانِيُّ، ثنا حَرْمَلَةُ، أنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ الْقَاسِمِ، حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ قَالَتْ: " ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اسْتَيْقَظَ وَحَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَالْتَمَسَ الْمَاءَ فَلَمْ يَجِدْهُ فَنَزَلَتْ آيَةُ التَّيَمُّمِ رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ.
Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) woke up and the time of the prayer had come. Water was searched for but it was not found, so the verse of tayammum was revealed.
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْفَقِيهُ، أنبأ عَلِيُّ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا أَبُو مُحَمَّدِ بْنُ صَاعِدٍ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زُنْبُورٍ، ثنا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَجْلَانَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ، تَيَمَّمَ بِمِرْبَدِ النَّعَمِ وَصَلَّى وَهُوَ عَلَى ثَلَاثَةِ أَمْيَالٍ مَنَ الْمَدِينَةِ، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ الْمَدِينَةَ وَالشَّمْسُ مُرْتَفِعَةٌ فَلَمْ يُعِدْ " رَوَاهُ ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ وَيَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ وَرَوَاهُ يَحْيَى الْأَنْصَارِيُّ وَمَالِكٌ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ.
It is narrated from Nafi' (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) performed tayammum at a place called Mirbad al-Na'am and prayed, and that place is three miles from Madinah. Then he entered Madinah while the sun was high, and he did not repeat the prayer.
وأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْفَقِيهُ، أنا أَبُو مُحَمَّدِ بْنُ حِبَّانَ الْأَصْفَهَانِيُّ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ، ثنا أَبُو عَامِرٍ، ثنا الْوَلِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُسْلِمٍ، قَالَ: قِيلَ لِأَبِي عَمْرٍو يَعْنِي الْأَوْزَاعِيَّ: حَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ وَالْمَاءُ حَائِزٌ عَنِ الطَّرِيقِ أَيَجِبُ عَلَيَّ أَنْ أَعْدِلَ إِلَيْهِ، قَالَ: ⦗٣٥٦⦘ حَدَّثَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَكُونُ فِي السَّفَرِ فَتَحْضُرُهُ الصَّلَاةُ وَالْمَاءُ مَنْهُ عَلَى غَلْوَةٍ أَوْ غَلْوَتَيْنِ وَنَحْوِ ذَلِكَ، ثُمَّ لَا يَعْدِلُ إِلَيْهِ ".
Ibn Muslim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Abu Amr al-Awza'i (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked: "The time of the prayer has come and the water is away from the road; is it obligatory on me to turn aside from the road and go to it?" He said: Musa bin Yasar (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated to me from Nafi' (may Allah have mercy on him), and Nafi' (may Allah have mercy on him) from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), that he would be on a journey and the time of the prayer would come while water was one or two bow-shots (ghalwah) away from him, or about that, and then he would not turn aside to it.
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، ثنا أَبُو مُحَمَّدِ بْنُ حِبَّانَ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ، ثنا أَبُو عَامِرٍ، ثنا الْوَلِيدُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ الْمُبَارَكِ يُحَدِّثُ، ٢٧ عَنْ رُزَيْقِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ رَاعٍ فِي غَنَمِهِ أَوْ رَاعٍ تُصِيبُهُ جَنَابَةٌ وَبَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْمَاءِ مِيلَانِ أَوْ ثَلَاثَةٌ، قَالَ: " يَتَيَمَّمُ صَعِيدًا طَيِّبًا ".
Ruzayq bin Hakim (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father (may Allah have mercy on him) that he said: I asked Sa'id bin al-Musayyab (may Allah have mercy on him) about a shepherd with his sheep, or such a shepherd, who becomes junub (in a state of major ritual impurity) and between him and the water there is a distance of two or three miles: what should he do? Ibn al-Musayyab (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "Such a person should perform tayammum with clean earth."
وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، أنا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ، ثنا أَبُو عَامِرٍ، ثنا الْوَلِيدُ، ثنا شَرِيكٌ، وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ: " اطْلُبِ الْمَاءَ حَتَّى يَكُونَ آخِرُ الْوَقْتِ فَإِنْ لَمْ تَجِدْ مَاءً تَيَمَّمْ، ثُمَّ صَلِّ " وَهَذَا لَمْ يَصِحَّ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، وَبِالثَّابِتِ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ نَقُولُ وَمَعَهُ ظَاهِرُ الْقُرْآنِ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "Keep searching for water until the last part of the time; if you do not find water, perform tayammum and then pray."
