أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الشَّافِعِيُّ بِبَغْدَادَ، أنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْحَرْبِيُّ، ثنا عَفَّانُ، ثنا صَخْرُ بْنُ جُوَيْرِيَةَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: " أُرَانِي أَتَسَوَّكُ فَجَاءَنِي رَجُلَانِ أَحَدُهُمَا أَكْبَرُ مِنَ الْآخَرِ فَنَاوَلْتُ السِّوَاكَ الْأَصْغَرَ مِنْهُمَا فَقِيلَ لِي كَبِّرْ، فَدَفَعْتُهُ إِلَى الْأَكْبَرِ ". أَخْرَجَهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ، قَالَ: وَقَالَ عَفَّانُ فَذَكَرَهُ.
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I saw myself (in a dream) using the siwak, and then two men came to me, one of them older than the other. I handed the siwak to the younger of the two, and it was said to me: 'Give it to the elder.' So I gave it to the elder."
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنبأ أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ السَّيَّارِيُّ، أنا أَبُو الْمُوَجَّهِ، أنا عَبْدَانُ، أنا عَبْدُ اللهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُبَارَكِ، أنا أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ، أنا ابْنُ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَسْتَنُّ فَأَعْطَاهُ أَكْبَرَ الْقَوْمِ ثُمَّ قَالَ: " إِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ أَمَرَنِي أَنْ أُكَبِّرَ ". اسْتَشْهَدَ الْبُخَارِيُّ بِهِذِهِ الرِّوَايَةِ.
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) using the siwak; then he (peace and blessings be upon him) gave it to the eldest of the people and said: "Jibril (peace be upon him) ordered me to give the siwak to the elder."
