Amrah bint Abd al-Rahman narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to perform i'tikaf. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) returned to the place where he (peace and blessings be upon him) had intended to perform i'tikaf, he (peace and blessings be upon him) saw tents there: the tents of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) and Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her). When he (peace and blessings be upon him) saw them, he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked about them, and he was told that these were the tents of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) and Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you consider this righteousness?" Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) went back from there and performed i'tikaf for ten days of Shawwal.
Through Malik this report is mursal; al-Awza'i, Hammad bin Zayd, Abbad bin al-Awwam, Sufyan bin Uyaynah, Abu Mu'awiyah al-Darir, Ya'la bin Ubayd and Amr bin al-Harith narrated it with a connected chain from Yahya bin Sa'id, from Amrah, from Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her).
