أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ فُورَكٍ، أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ثنا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ حَدَّثَهُ، أَنَّ مَوْلَى قُدَامَةَ بْنِ مَظْعُونٍ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ مَوْلَى أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ أُسَامَةَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ كَانَ يَرْكَبُ إِلَى مَالٍ لَهُ بِوَادِي الْقُرَى وَكَانَ يَصُومُ الِاثْنَيْنَ وَالْخَمِيسَ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: أَتَصُومُ وَقَدْ كَبِرْتَ وَرَقَقْتَ؟ فَقَالَ: إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصُومُ الِاثْنَيْنِ وَالْخَمِيسَ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَتَصُومُ يَوْمَ الِاثْنَيْنِ وَالْخَمِيسِ؟ فَقَالَ: " إِنَّ الْأَعْمَالَ تُعْرَضُ يَوْمَ الِاثْنَيْنِ وَالْخَمِيسِ " وَكَذَلِكَ رَوَاهُ أَبَانُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْعَطَّارُ وَحَرْبُ بْنُ شَدَّادٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى.
The freed slave of Usamah bin Zayd narrates that Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) had property in Wadi al-Qura; he used to ride out to it, and he used to fast on Mondays and Thursdays. I said to him: "Do you fast when you have become old and weak?" He said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) fasting on Mondays and Thursdays, so I said: 'O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), do you fast on Mondays and Thursdays?' He said: 'Indeed, deeds are presented on Mondays and Thursdays.'"
