Bayhaqi 84 — The prohibition of using the hair of carrion

قَالَ الشَّيْخُ: وَقَدْ رُوِيَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ الْبَصْرِيِّ، سَمِعَ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ، يَقُولُ: إِنَّمَا حُرِّمَ مِنَ الْمَيْتَةِ لَحْمُهَا وَدَمُهَا. أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْفَارِسِيُّ، أنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ فَارِسٍ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْبُخَارِيُّ، قَالَ: قَالَ لَهُ إِسْرَائِيلُ: عَنْ حُمْرَانَ بْنِ أَعْيَنَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَرْبٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ مِثْلَهُ وَمَنْ قَالَ بِطَهَارَةِ الشَّعْرِ الَّذِي عَلَى جِلْدِ الْمَيْتَةِ إِذَا دُبِغَ الْجِلْدُ احْتَجَّ بِمَا.
Abdullah bin Qays al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) heard Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) say that the flesh of a carcass and its blood are forbidden.
(b) For those who declared pure the hair that is on the skin of a carcass, holding that it becomes pure when the skin is tanned, this hadith is their evidence.
