وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ الْإِسْفَرَايِينِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْبَرَاءِ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمَدِينِيِّ قَالَ: حَدِيثُ شَدَّادِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ رَأَى رَجُلًا يَحْتَجِمُ فِي رَمَضَانَ رَوَاهُ عَاصِمٌ الْأَحْوَلُ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَشْعَثِ عَنْ شَدَّادٍ وَرَوَاهُ يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ وَلَا أَرَى الْحَدِيثَيْنِ إِلَّا صَحِيحَيْنِ فَقَدْ يُمَكِنُ أَنْ يَكُونَ سَمِعَهُ مِنْهُمَا جَمِيعًا..
Ali bin al-Madini (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The hadith of Shaddad bin Aws (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), that he (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man being cupped in Ramadan, was narrated by Asim al-Ahwal from Abu Qilabah, from Abu al-Ash'ath, from Shaddad; and Yahya bin Abi Kathir narrated it from Abu Qilabah, from Abu Asma', from Thawban. In my view both hadiths are sahih (authentic), since it is possible that he (Abu Qilabah) heard it from both of them.
