Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Layla narrates from a man among the Companions of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him, and may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the fasting person from continuous fasting (wisal) and from cupping, out of consideration for his Companions, and he did not make them unlawful. It was said to him (peace and blessings be upon him): But you yourself fast continuously? So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I spend the day with my Lord feeding me and giving me drink."
