أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْقَطَّانُ، أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، عَنْ شَيْبَانَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ: بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ جُلُوسٌ فِي مَسْجِدِ الْمَدِينَةِ فِي رَمَضَانَ، وَالسَّمَاءُ مُتَغَيِّمَةٌ فَرَأَيْنَا أَنَّ ⦗٣٦٨⦘ الشَّمْسَ قَدْ غَابَتْ، وَأَنَّا قَدْ أَمْسَيْنَا، فَأُخْرِجَتْ لَنَا عِسَاسٌ مِنْ لَبَنٍ مِنْ بَيْتِ حَفْصَةَ، فَشَرِبَ عُمَرُ وَشَرِبْنَا فَلَمْ نَلْبَثْ أَنْ ذَهَبَ السَّحَابُ وَبَدَتِ الشَّمْسُ، فَجَعَلَ بَعْضُنَا يَقُولُ لِبَعْضٍ: نَقْضِي يَوْمَنَا هَذَا، فَسَمِعَ ذَلِكَ عُمَرُ فَقَالَ: " وَاللهِ لَا نَقْضِيهِ وَمَا تَجَانَفْنَا لِإِثْمٍ " كَذَا رَوَاهُ شَيْبَانُ وَرَوَاهُ حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ وَأَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ، وَكَانَ يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ الْفَارِسِيُّ يَحْمِلُ عَلَى يَدِ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ بِهَذِهِ الرِّوَايَةِ الْمُخَالِفَةِ لِلْرِوَايَاتِ الْمُتَقَدِّمَةِ، وَيَعُدُّهَا مِمَّا خُولِفَ فِيهِ، وَزَيْدٌ ثِقَةٌ، إِلَّا أَنَّ الْخَطَأَ غَيْرُ مَأْمُونٍ، وَاللهُ يَعْصِمُنَا مِنَ الزَّلَلِ وَالْخَطَايَا بِمَنِّهِ وَسَعَةِ رَحْمَتِهِ.
Zayd bin Wahb (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Once we were sitting in the mosque of Madinah; it was Ramadan and there were clouds in the sky. We thought that the sun had set and that evening had come, so a large bowl of milk was brought out for us from the house of Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her). Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) drank and we drank too. We had stayed only a short while when the clouds cleared and the sun appeared. Some of us said: We will make this day up. When this reached Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: By Allah, we will not make it up; we did not commit this sin deliberately.
This narration contradicts the earlier narrations. Zayd is thiqah (trustworthy), but he is not safe from error. May Allah protect us from slipping and from mistakes by His vast mercy.
