It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a dead sheep that had been given in charity to a freed slave of Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why did you not benefit from its skin?" They said: It is a carcass. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Only eating (its flesh) is forbidden."
(b) The jurists say that he declared only eating forbidden. Abu Bakr al-Hudhali narrated some additional words in this narration from al-Zuhri, in which no trustworthy narrator corroborated him.
