Bayhaqi 7974 — Testimony to sighting the new moon of Ramadan
وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ، أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ دَاسَةَ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكَّارِ بْنِ الرَّيَّانِ، ثنا الْوَلِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي ثَوْرٍ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، فَذَكَرَهُ بِنَحْوِهِ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَقُلْ: يَعْنِي هِلَالَ رَمَضَانَ.
Al-Walid bin Abi Thawr (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated a similar hadith from Simak, except that he did not say: "the crescent of Ramadan."
