Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that a Bedouin man met him on the road to Makkah. Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) greeted him with salam, mounted him on the donkey he himself was riding, and gave him the turban that was on his head. Ibn Dinar (may Allah have mercy on him) says: We said to him: 'Aslahaka Allah' (May Allah set you right), these Bedouins are pleased with very little. Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: This man's father loved Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) dearly, and I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Among the greatest acts of righteousness is for a son to keep ties and love with those whom his father loved."
