Bayhaqi 7621 — The zakah of a debt owed by a solvent person who repays

Ikrimah narrates from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he was asked about the zakah of absent wealth. He said: Pay the zakah of your absent wealth just as you pay the zakah of the wealth that is present. The man said to him: Then the wealth will be ruined? He said: The ruin of wealth is better than the ruin of religion.
