وَقَدْ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّذْبَارِيُّ، أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ فَيَّاضٍ، قَالَا: ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ، عَنْ عِرَاكِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " لَيْسَ فِي الْخَيْلِ وَالرَّقِيقِ زَكَاةٌ إِلَّا زَكَاةَ الْفِطْرِ فِي الرَّقِيقِ ". هَذَا هُوَ الْأَصَحُّ وَحَدِيثَهُ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ غَيْرُ مَحْفُوظٍ، وَمَكْحُولٌ لَمْ يَسْمَعْهُ مِنْ عِرَاكٍ إِنَّمَا رَوَاهُ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ عِرَاكٍ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no zakah on horses and slaves, except Zakat al-Fitr on slaves."
This is the more correct version. Ubaydullah's narration of it from Abu al-Zinad is not mahfuz (preserved), and Makhul did not hear it from Irak; he only narrated it from Sulayman bin Yasar, from Irak.
