أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى، أنبأ أَبُو بَحْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ كَوْثَرٍ، ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ، ثنا مَعْنُ بْنُ عِيسَى، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ التَّمَّارُ، " أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ شَهِدَ عِنْدَهُ عَلَى هِلَالِ الْفِطْرِ مِنْ آخِرِ النَّهَارِ فَأَمَرَ النَّاسَ أَنْ يُفْطِرُوا، وَأَنْ يَخْرُجُوا لِعِيدِهِمْ مِنَ الْغَدِ ".
Testimony about the crescent of Eid al-Fitr reached Umar bin Abd al-Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him) at the end of the day, so he ordered the people to break their fast and said: Go out for the Eid the next day.
