(a) Hisham bin Urwah narrates from his father that he said: Sayyidah Busrah (may Allah be pleased with her) informed me.
(b) It is narrated from Sayyidah Busrah bint Safwan (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When anyone touches his private part, let him not pray until he performs ablution." Urwah objected to this; then, when he asked Sayyidah Busrah (may Allah be pleased with her), she confirmed it.
(b) Imam Ibn Khuzaymah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Imam al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) held ablution to be obligatory after touching the private part in following the hadith of Sayyidah Busrah bint Safwan (may Allah be pleased with her), not by analogy. And I hold the view of Imam al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him), because Urwah heard this hadith from Sayyidah Busrah (may Allah be pleased with her).
(c) The Shaykh said: Sayyidah Busrah bint Safwan bin Nawfal bin Asad (may Allah be pleased with her) is among the women who gave the pledge of allegiance, and Waraqah bin Nawfal was her paternal uncle. She was the wife of Mu'awiyah bin al-Mughirah bin Abi al-As; this is the statement of Mus'ab al-Zubayri. And Imam Malik bin Anas (may Allah have mercy on him) said that she was the maternal grandmother of Abd al-Malik bin Marwan.
