Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to sit on the pulpit on the day of Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha and Friday, and when the mu'adhdhin fell silent, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would stand and deliver the sermon, then sit down. Then he would stand and deliver the sermon. Then he would come down from the pulpit and pray.
The narrator first mentioned the two Eids and Friday together, but afterwards spoke only about Friday.
