Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in the fear prayer, and we formed two rows: one row behind him (peace and blessings be upon him) and the other row facing the enemy. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said the takbir with both rows that were behind him (peace and blessings be upon him); then he (peace and blessings be upon him) led the row that was behind him (peace and blessings be upon him) in one ruku' and two prostrations. Then they went to the place of their other brothers, and the others came and joined him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) led them in one ruku' and two prostrations. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the salam, and those who were behind him (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed one rak'ah. Then they went to their row. Then the others came and prayed one rak'ah. Khusayf said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was between the enemy and the qibla. Al-Thawri narrates from Khusayf: One row was behind him (peace and blessings be upon him) and the other row facing the enemy, and all the people were in prayer. Sharik narrates from Khusayf that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said the takbir, and both rows said the takbir with him (peace and blessings be upon him).
This hadith is mursal: Abu Ubaydah did not meet his father, and Khusayf al-Jazari is not strong.
