أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَأَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ الْمُزَكِّي، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْقَاضِي قَالُوا: ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا بَحْرُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ قَالَ: قُرِئَ عَلَى ابْنِ وَهْبٍ وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُ، أَخْبَرَكَ يُونُسُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ: " فَرَضَ اللهُ الصَّلَاةَ حِينَ فَرَضَهَا رَكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ أَتَمَّهَا فِي الْحَضَرِ، وَأُقِرَّتْ صَلَاةُ السَّفَرِ عَلَى الْفَرِيضَةِ الْأُولَى ". رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ حَرْمَلَةَ بْنِ يَحْيَى وَغَيْرِهِ عَنِ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ، وَأَخْرَجَهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ مِنْ وَجْهٍ آخَرَ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ.
Urwah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), the honoured wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that when Allah made the prayer obligatory, He made it obligatory as two rak'ahs. Then He completed it (to four) for the resident, and the prayer of the traveller was kept upon the original obligation.
