Bayhaqi 5312 — Leading the prayer without the ruler's order

Abu Ja'far al-Qari' says that he saw the man in charge of the maqsurah during the time of tribulation: when the time of prayer came, he went out following the people, asking: "Who will lead the people in prayer?" until he reached Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both). Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "In that case, you go forward yourself and lead the people in prayer."
