(a) Sayyiduna Malik bin al-Huwayrith (may Allah be pleased with him) says that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him or to a companion of his: "When the time of the adhan comes, one of you should give the adhan, then the iqamah should be said, and the elder of you should lead you in prayer."
(b) In the narration of Maslamah it is: In those days we two were young men alike in knowledge.
(c) In the narration of Isma'il it is that Khalid (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I said to Abu Qilabah (may Allah have mercy on him): "Then where does the recitation come in?" He said: "They were close to each other in it too."
