Bayhaqi 5259 — The imam leaves and does not appoint a deputy

Khalid bin Abdullah bin Rabah al-Sulami says: I prayed one rak'ah with Amir Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) at Iliya, when he was wounded. Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) was wounded when one rak'ah had been completed; he wanted to raise his head from prostration, and he said to the people: "Complete your prayer." Every man stood up and completed his prayer. Neither did Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) put anyone forward, nor did the people put anyone forward.
