Muharib bin Dithar narrates from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! Which place is best? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I do not know." He said: Which place is worst? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I do not know." Meanwhile Jibril came, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked Jibril: "O Jibril! Which place is best?" He said: I do not know. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Which place is worst?" He said: I do not know. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Ask your Lord." Jibril shuddered so violently that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was about to faint, and he said: I will not ask Him about anything. Allah Almighty said to Jibril: Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) asked you which place is best, and you said: I do not know; and he asked you which place is worst, and you said: I do not know. Inform him that the best places are the mosques and the worst places are the markets.
