وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ بِشْرَانَ، أنبأ إِسْمَاعِيلُ الصَّفَّارُ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا يَعْلَى بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، ثنا أَبُو سِنَانٍ، عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ بَدْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الشَّعْثَاءِ الْمُحَارِبِيِّ قَالَ: كُنْتُ فِي جَيْشٍ فِيهِمْ سَلْمَانُ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ سَلْمَانُ: " عَلَيْكُمْ بِهَذِهِ الْبَهَائِمِ الَّتِي تَكَفَّلَ اللهُ بِأَرْزَاقِهَا فَارْفُقُوا بِهَا فِي السَّيْرِ، وَأَعْطُوهَا قُوتَهَا، وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالصَّلَاةِ فِيمَا بَيْنَ الْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ؛ فَإِنَّهَا تُخَفِّفُ عَنْكُمْ مِنْ جُزْءِ لَيْلَتِكُمْ، وَتَكْفِيكُمُ الْهَذَرَ ".
Abu al-Sha'tha' al-Muharibi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I was in an army in which Sayyiduna Salman al-Farisi (may Allah be pleased with him) was present. Sayyiduna Salman al-Farisi (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Take care of these animals whose provision Allah Almighty has guaranteed; drive them gently on the march and give them their fodder. And hold fast to prayer in the time between Maghrib and Isha, for it lightens for you part of your night prayer and protects you from idle talk.
