Bayhaqi 4749 — One who slackens in the night prayer should pray

Qatadah narrates from Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding this verse: "Their sides forsake their beds" [Surah al-Sajdah: 16] up to "they spend" [Surah al-Sajdah: 16]. The narrator said that they would stay awake and pray between Maghrib and Isha. And al-Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "This was the night prayer (qiyam al-layl)."
