Al-Walid bin Muslim (may Allah have mercy on him) says that al-Awza'i, Malik, Sufyan and al-Layth bin Sa'd (may Allah have mercy on them) were asked about these ahadith, and they replied: They are to be accepted just as they have come, without ascribing any manner (kayfiyyah) to them.
(b) Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Sufyan al-Thawri, Shu'bah, Hammad bin Zayd, Hammad bin Salamah, Sharik and Abu Awanah (may Allah have mercy on them), when narrating these ahadith, would not make likenesses or comparisons (tashbih and tamthil), nor would they describe a manner; and when they were asked, they would say: They are from the narrations (athar).
