Abdullah bin Ammar narrates that he saw Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) prostrating on a mat made in the town of Abqar.
Abu Ubayd (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "Abqari" means a mat that is dyed and has patterns in it; its singular is "abqariyyah". It is called "abqari" because of its attribution to a town where decorative patterned work is made.
