أنبأ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى، ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ، عَنْ أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ: " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَحْسَنَ النَّاسِ خُلُقًا، فَرُبَّمَا تَحْضُرُهُ الصَّلَاةُ وَهُوَ فِي بَيْتِنَا فَيَأْمُرُ بِالْبِسَاطِ الَّذِي تَحْتَهُ فَيُكْنَسُ، ثُمَّ يُنْضَحُ، ثُمَّ يَقُومُ فَنَقُومُ خَلْفَهُ فَيُصَلِّي بِنَا " قَالَ: " وَكَانَ بِسَاطُهُمْ مِنْ جَرِيدِ النَّخْلِ " رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ، عَنْ شَيْبَانَ وَغَيْرِهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ.
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was the best of people in character. Sometimes the time of prayer would come while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was in our house. At his (peace and blessings be upon him) command, the place would be swept, water sprinkled and the mat spread out; then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would stand for prayer, and we would stand behind him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) would lead us in prayer. His (peace and blessings be upon him) mat at that time was made of palm branches.
