Bayhaqi 3726 — The prostration of "Iqra' bismi rabbik"

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ فُورَكٍ، أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ثنا قُرَّةُ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سِيرِينَ، ثنا أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: " سَجَدَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا فِي إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انْشَقَّتْ، وَاقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ، وَمَنْ هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِنْهُمَا " وَرُوِّينَا السُّجُودَ فِي اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ وَعَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا.
(a) Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) prostrated in Surah al-Inshiqaq and Surah al-Alaq, and so did the one who is better than both of them, that is, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
(b) Concerning prostration in Surah al-Alaq, a report has also been narrated to us from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him).
