أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْقَطِيعِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، ثنا مَكِّيٌّ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ قَالَ: كُنْتُ آتِي مَعَ سَلَمَةَ الْمَسْجِدَ فَيُصَلِّي عِنْدَ الْأُسْطُوَانَةِ الَّتِي تَكُونُ عِنْدَ الْمُصْحَفِ، قُلْتُ: يَا أَبَا مُسْلِمٍ أَرَاكَ تَتَحَرَّى الصَّلَاةَ عِنْدَ هَذِهِ الْأُسْطُوَانَةِ قَالَ: " فَإِنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَحَرَّى الصَّلَاةَ عِنْدَهَا " رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ، عَنْ مَكِّيِّ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَرَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُثَنَّى، عَنْ مَكِّيٍّ.
Yazid bin Abi Ubayd relates: I used to come with Sayyiduna Salamah bin al-Akwa' (may Allah be pleased with him) to the Prophet's Mosque, and he would pray beside the pillar where the copy of the Qur'an was kept. Once I said: "O Abu Muslim, I see that you pray beside this pillar." He said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) making a point of praying in front of it."
