أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، وَأَبُو زَكَرِيَّا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالُوا: ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا بَحْرُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ وَاقِدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: مَرَرْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَفِي إِزَارِي اسْتِرْخَاءٌ، فَقَالَ: " يَا عَبْدَ اللهِ، ارْفَعْ إِزَارَكَ" فَرَفَعْتُهُ فَقَالَ: " زِدْ" فَزِدْتُ فَمَا زِلْتُ أَتَحَرَّى بَعْدُ، فَقَالَ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ: أَيْنَ؟ فَقَالَ: أَنْصَافَ السَّاقَيْنِ. رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ أَبِي طَاهِرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I passed by the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and my lower garment (izar) was hanging down. He said: "O Abdullah, raise your lower garment." I raised it, and he said: "Higher." So I raised it higher, and after that I always kept striving (to keep it so). Some people asked: Up to where? He said: To the middle of the shins.
