أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ السَّيَّارِيُّ بِمَرْوَ أنبأ أَبُو الْمُوَجِّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْفَزَارِيُّ، أنبأ يُوسُفُ بْنُ عِيسَى، أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: " رَأَيْتُ سَبْعِينَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الصُّفَّةِ مَا مِنْهُمْ رَجُلٌ عَلَيْهِ رِدَاءٌ، إِمَّا بُرْدَةٌ وَإِمَّا كِسَاءٌ قَدْ رَبَطُوهَا فِي أَعْنَاقِهِمْ فَمِنْهَا مَا يَبْلُغُ نِصْفَ السَّاقِ وَمِنْهَا مَا يَبْلُغُ الْكَعْبَيْنِ فَيَجْمَعُهُ بِيَدِهِ كَرَاهِيَةَ أَنْ تَبْدُوَ عَوْرَتُهُ " رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ، عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ عِيسَى.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I saw seventy of the students of the Suffah, and not one of them had an upper sheet; there was only a striped sheet or a coarse blanket, which they had tied around their necks. Some of these reached half the shin and some reached the ankles, and they would gather the cloth together with their hand so that their private parts would not be exposed.
